I developed a more collaborative approach. They would make isolated decisions without engaging the front line or the floor staff that were really working those jobs on a daily basis. I think early on in my career I realized one of the flaws in our management team as a whole.
It’s a tough industry to work in, so we try to keep things as lighthearted and informal as possible back of house so we can really boost our team up for when they go out and take care of the guests. I’ve literally been there in the trenches with them. Q: How has your experience working at Sycuan affected how you treat your employees?Ī: It just allows me a different perspective to really empathize with the team.
